wow. i shouldn't have to go into detail about this. this is a masterpiece of a short film.

the pacing, the concepts, the premise, the characters, the actual designs of the world and the creatures are all perfect. the entire idea behind the film is beyond inventive, and its honestly something i haven't seen much of in a story.

what impresses me most about this amazing tale is that it involved no dialogue. it used the framing, the actions, and the amazing designs to tell this story of brethrenship, adventure, the reward in living life, and even just basic slyness. this is a timeless and perfect story.

there was not 1 flaw with this flash. a perfect, and arguably untopplable flash. let this be an example to all of the hacks who get the awards this flash did. let them see that there are better things in the world than shitty facial reaction.

this is by every account, a masterpiece.

what a losie

so good and full of quality animation i tell ya what

oh zeurel... i still just feel like i'm not your audience. when i do see your work i do see effort. i see alot of visual effort and actual attempts at writing set ups and pay offs, but where i stand, they always seem to fall flat because of being a little too over the top and "wacky" or being too underplayed and forgettable. this one is more on the attempt at building up something and then forgetting how weak the pay off is.

i mean, essentially the first 20 seconds of animation is entirely pointless. you throw in a boob shot for the small minded male audience who craves boobs instead of having a joke-based reason or any relevant reason at all for her being naked in the shot. i don't want to say that's whorish, manipulative, shallow, or any other thing that may insult you, but it kind of was.

the cameo you made to leo and satan was highly ironic to me, especially by the end. for one, who would ever put the effort in to make a chris o'neil cameo in a flash, when his pull is to a very gourmet audience of ADD ridden children which don't generally follow into other animators' work and when the cameo itself is pointless and won't really impress anyone in any real constructive way, and for two, you ripped off the oney flash "learn 2 read", which was as hilariously sad as it was nauseating, whether or not you even realized it.

ok, so these 2 big complaints of mine aside, the animation was solid as usual, the motion is fast, the idea generally simple and focused, and if you haven't seen a joke like this before (which i'm almost certain everyone has and could have seen coming) you might be entertained/disturbed. i'm definitely not the target audience for this flash, i'm well aware, but hopefully my opinion may appeal to you.

PS: next time, if you want to appeal to an audience of people like me, have a coherent reason for the death instead of tossing in discord without a reason, or tie that discord into the story/collection of events.

marcy that was a fantastic flash. its such a firthian style that feels disgusting and flat, but devours up those aspects and vomits them as charm. the pacing, the animation style, the sound, the music, everything has this sense of wonder and life (pun intended) to every frame. there's nothing at all right with anything in this flash, and that my fellow newgrounds users, is why everything is right with it.

one of the best flashes i have ever seen.

MarcyVF responds:

WOW thank you so much! I really didn't have Firth in mind untill during the making of it, but that's a nice comment. Jan Svankmajer and Don Hertzfeldt were kind of thought of from the start.

develop a style you sickening rats <3

seeing this animated was oddly chilling. i mean, usually its live action parodies, but such attention to detail was put in this very simple parody that it was really surreal. it was really a fantastic flash to just look at. it had such a scope to everything and the visual pacing was just perfect. it wasn't jumping around or begging for attention, but it didn't need to. the attention it gets is through the title alone, and the rest was showing off your skills as an animator, which are mostly fbf object movement and voice sync skills.

but there is 1 downside, and its that this is and will always be just another gangnam style parody, causing the original to sit there on life support, and this one to be overlooked for its visual effort. i know you can use these skills to create a wonderful story, and i'd love to see that.

its ok until the very end and during the credits. then it became a generic mess of obnoxious jontronesque shlock.

2 things to remember in the future:

1. never end your flash with final fantasy music. its possibly the most passe thing that still exists in flash animating, and its easily avoided in writing.

2. never jitter around text while purposefully stumbling lines or yelling. this takes a step down from humor and lands onto obnoxious loudness and "LOOK AT ME I'M LIKE JONTRON AND HAVE FAST MOVING SHIT ON THE SCREEN I'M FUNNY FOR IT LAUGH AT ME", and i for one cant stand jontron or others who do this really cheap editing trick to beg for a laugh from little kids.

but, you did have a few good jokes that were set up and had pay offs, it was animated pretty well, and it was a fairly good choice for parody since not many people have chosen to parody it, and it is a current topic. good work.

its not bad, but its pointless. the entire thing is a bunch of pointless events. even in concept, its pointless.

A. what made them have to be animals anatomically similar to people that speak in southern english when there was no reason for it in the context of the story?
B. what was the relevance of the scarecrow scene and why did it matter?
C. what was the point of the rabbit anf the other wolf telling them that they ate dandelions when they didn't lead to anything other than an upset boss which had nothing to do with the boss?
D. why did she ask where the scarecrow was when she saw what happenned to it?
E. what was the entire point to this? they work on a farm for some reason and he makes 2 mistakes. thats all that happens, and its not like the characters were there to react in an interesting way to those mistakes, which leads me back to question A.

this was pointless, empty, but it was animated pretty decently and its not harmful to anyone. i just don't see where this was going or what it was setting out to do. apparently its a comedy of some sort, but its just not... well... really funny to me. its just sort of boring and familiar.

anyway, you got the sound and your artstyle down, but the writing and the direction need a ton of work.

Warlord-of-Noodles responds:

Oh I dunno... I've successfully gotten you to ask the correct questions^^ I say I've done VERY well.
It's so adorable how you've "gotten it" without "getting it"
